I find that the original attaches perfectly to my PC desk due to it being free from the desk frame underneath. One for my PC setup and the other is to record my bit-tech videos and photograph products. One of the main positive features is the freestanding base., whereas the original has a mounted clamp for desks. However, this is my only negative experience.
I think once you finally manage to attach the light panel, it isn't really going to be something that you should be dismantling again. It all was very fiddly and, unfortunately, I ended up dropping the clamp parts many times whilst trying to install, resulting in little marks being scored into the base. This is mainly down to the Key Light Air having a new design for the ball-head mount clamp. The only issue I really stumbled across was securing the light panel to the telescopic pole mount. The setup of the Key Light Air is very simple and is all very self-explanatory.

So today, I have my hands on this smaller alternative light for review. Personally, I own a lot of Elgato's products, where Key Lights are the majority. It is smaller in size, power and in comparison to the original Elgato Key Light, is considerably cheaper, too. The Elgato Key Light Air is one of the new additions to this range. This product range from Elgato provides us with high-end studio lighting, which replaces messy broadcaster setups and is better suited for smaller, confined areas. You get here forty warm OSRAM LEDs plus forty cold to enable full-spectrum white. The next major change is the mounting system: the reviewed unit uses a weighted base, whereas it’s “bigger brother” can be mounted to your desk with a clamp. For the Key Light Air, it’s between 60 and 88 cm, whereas the original Key Light’s height could be adjusted between 55 and 125 cm. The surface area is about 50% smaller than that of the original Key Light. Another difference is the height adjustment range. It seems good enough, so you shouldn’t worry. In other news, the maximum output is now 1400 lumens, instead of 2800. This is a nice cable management solution, and it makes the setup look better as a whole. One of the examples is a groove on the back of the pole to hide the power cord in. It also has some features that the bigger Key Light lacked. Overall, this new product is quite similar to Elgato's original Key Light, but the Air version is more compact and portable.

The Key Light Air is a light (well yes, doh!) intended to be placed in front of the person shown in a video and should make your videos and feeds look more professional by improving the lighting of the scene.
